The 2022 NBA free agency period is just a few days away, and Kyrie Irving has yet to opt into his player option with the Brooklyn Nets. If he doesn't opt-in by June 29, Irving officially becomes a free agent.

Earlier this week, it became apparent that the Los Angeles Lakers are the biggest threat to steal Irving if he enters free agency. But, are the Lakers the only team interested in him?

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, yes. The Lakers are undoubtedly the team “with the most interest,” and no other teams seem to be pushing to sign him.

Here's a clip of Wojnarowski's update on Friday morning.

“I think the one team with the most interest in Kyrie Irving are the Lakers. There's really not a sign and trade scenario with Brooklyn that makes sense,” Wojnarowski said. He said that a sign and trade scenario where the Lakers offer Anthony Davis is “not going to happen.”

Other teams thought to be interested in Irving include the Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Clippers. “That list,” Woj said, “I don't think there's interest there.” As for the New York Knicks, Woj said that they're more focused on clearing cap space for Jalen Brunson.

So, if Irving wants to leave the Nets, what should he do?

Woj's advice: “Opt-out of your contract next week and sign the $6 million exception that the Lakers would have available.” Irving would lose over $30 million in this process. However, the Lakers could sign him to a “more lucrative long-term deal if things work out” next year.
