New York Primary Election Results: 16th Congressional District

The Associated Press expects a delay in vote tabulation and race calls because a large number of voters cast absentee ballots. In New York City, election officials said they will begin counting absentee ballots the week of July 6. Precincts reporting figures are not shown.

Democratic Primary

Eliot Engel faces one of the stiffest challenges of his decades-long career as Jamaal Bowman rides a wave of progressive support. Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi lined up behind Mr. Engel, while Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders backed Mr. Bowman.

The New York City Board of Elections said today that Staten Island will begin counting absentee ballots on July 6, and Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx on July 8.
